Social Awareness through Human Involvement (SATHI) is a non-profit rural development organization in Himachal Pradesh (India) whose mission is to promote sustainable livelihood through combining indigenous knowledge and innovative technologies. SATHI got established in 1992 by Dr. Anil Sharma (Founder/Director-SATHI) as a Volunteer organization and registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 (21). SATHI Head office is located at Thakur Dwara village of Pachhad block of District Sirmour (Himachal Pradesh).
For the last 32 years, Dr. Anil Sharma and his team Members of SATHI is diligently working for socio-economic uplift-ment of community reside in remote and backward hilly region of Himachal Pradesh & adjoining states. SATHI works with village level institutions (VLIs) by generating farming alternatives, enriching the knowledge based training and demonstration, linking with development agencies and sharing experiences. Dissemination of information on advance and eco-friendly technology is major initiative of SATHI for self reliance of the community.
SATHI had undertaken various demonstration programmes with (VLIs) on rural technology such as - Rain water harvesting from roof tops, NRM, Artificial ground water recharge , Environment Conservation, Improved agriculture, Water and sanitation management, Water purification through bio techniques, school WASH, Mountain Livelihood promotion through farm and off-farm activities. In addition to this SATHI has always joining the hand with the government in implementing their programme. For its unique and pioneering works, SATHI has been conferred Vikas Ratan Award by IIFS New Delhi, National Ground Water Augmentation Award in 2008 by Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India, Prerna Srot Samman Purskar in 2009 by Govt. of HP, Indira Gandhi Paryavarn Puruskar (IGPP Award -2010) from Ministry of Environment & Forest, Govt Of India, leading news channel ABP News conferred Global CSR Excellence, Leadership a SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD in 2015 and HP State Innovation Award in 2016, Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Award – 2017 by GoHP and JAL PRAHARI SAMMAN 2023 from Ministry of Jal Shakti,GOI. Recently, SATHI also conferred with ‘Radiant Wellness Award 2025’ by Radiant Group for its outstanding contributions in field of improving water quality through bio-filter interventions in remote villages of Himachal Pradesh.
